For no reason that I can discern, the use of ‘parse’ to mean ‘scrutinise closely’ bothers me to a remarkable degree.
Weird: there are two long-form magainze articles out about Amazon this month. It’s an interesting contrast. The one in the New Yorker isn’t bad, but the Atlantic’s piece is definitely superior.
Posting this is probably just asking for trouble but so far Catalina has been fine on my 13” MacBook Pro.
First Rugby World Cup quarter-finals for Japan!
Bravo, Adam Silver.
This is a disappointingly pissweak statement from the coach of the Golden State Warriors on the NBA/China controversy.
Disappointed to see that the NBA will stand up to the U.S. but not China.
The word ‘secular’ is one of those annoying English words that now has two diametrically opposed meanings.

It was a delightful surprise to open Feedbin this morning and see all the stories from the latest issue of the New Yorker there. Yay, RSS! Feedstock working great!
I’m now proudly wearing a Apple Watch Series 5. I really like it. Feels like a good choice.
Not sure if this is an AirPods problem or an iOS 13 problem but my right AirPod refuses to connect to my phone.
Another thing to note about iOS 13: still can’t change the ordering direction of items in your Reading List.
I will say this about iOS 13: Apple Arcade is terrific. I’ve already grabbed Overland, Mini Motorways, Sayonara Wild Hearts and Skate City.
