I’m slowly getting closer to getting this Planck feature working properly. Related: debugging C code is not fun.

Woohoo! I have taps working on my ClojureScript pREPL!
I’ve been reading Ben Thompson for a long time and have been frustrated by his (albeit well-meaning) hand-wringing over regulation. At a point, worrying about unintended consequences becomes a decision not to regulate. I’m glad he’s finally proposed something.
TIL ‘angst’ is originally from German and was only introduced to English in the 1920s.
When I was 10 years old, my fifth grade teacher made a reference to Bon Jovi’s Slippery When Wet in a spelling test and it completely blew my mind that a teacher might listen to (what was at the time) contemporary popular music. I think about this every time I hear their stuff.
I’ve only listened to the album all the way through once but, for me, MAH is the top track on the new Chemical Brothers record.
Time Machine has started complaining of late about the integrity of my remote backup. I’m considering switching back to my hacky setup where I had my Raspberry Pi SSH into the MacBook Pro each night, mount the attached hard drive and trigger a TM backup.
On our way to the aquarium!
A friend of mine was asking what podcasts I listen to at the moment and I realise it’s almost been a year (!) since my most recent write-up. There’s been quite a bit of movement in the past 12 months so it’s time for an update, I think.
We took the kids to Tokyo Disneyland for the first time on Tuesday. It was a good day overall but I’m a little sad I’ll never get to see my daughter as excited about seeing a statue of Minnie Mouse as she was that day.
Staring at this code is melting my brain.
We may be going to Tokyo Disneyland this coming Tuesday.
I posted to Instagram for the first time in a long time today. I really think they need to get rid of the Instagram TV button. It completely clutters up what is an already busy interface with a feature that I have to imagine is not very popular.
I’m going to try playing the Secret of Monkey Island using Steam’s streaming feature. Wish me luck.
Why does GoodReads have banner ads in their app still?
I understand why a lot of people like Beto but I am hoping against hope that Buttigieg somehow lands the nomination. Compare this with this.
People have been asking why Apple is getting into video. The most generous interpretation I can give is that Apple believes it’s the only company that will protect your privacy with respect to what you watch and that’s the special contribution they can make.
So I think at least part of the problem I was having yesterday was cache invalidation. Right again, Phil Karlton.
The issue I mentioned yesterday appears solved. Not sure how Apple did that since the News app hasn’t been updated. (Some of the other bugs have disappeared, too.)
Ugh. Everything with this feels like one step forward and two steps back.
