I don’t know what spurred it but I’ve gotten back in the movie watching saddle. After not watching a film for the first two months of the year, I’ve now watched seven in March. And there’s still a week left in the month!

Another episode to add to my series of delayed realisations. My father often refers to pushy people as ‘bolshie’—I’ve just realised this’s a reference to Bolsheviks. My father was born just after the Second Wold War to a working class family. I’m not sure which was determinative.
It’s not strictly connected to the current controversy but today I moved the Facebook app off my primary home screen and replaced it with the Kindle app.
It’s only just occurred to me why a company that made storage media (I remember them from floppy disks!) was called ‘Verbatim’. As a kid, I didn’t know the word and once I did, I wasn’t seeing floppy disks any more to make the connection.

Why aren’t Yahoo Japan’s apps available outside the Japanese App Store? I don’t know.
I’m stumped as to why Safari is so shithouse at connecting to a ‘local’ server accessed via a VPN. SSH works fine. A DNS problem?
It’s astounding how good the first nine minutes of A New Hope are.
I’ve thought for a long time that Apple should release a smartband. Today I bothered to write up the argument. Here’s the 1500+ word case.
Am in the process of moving from GitHub Pages to hosting on my blog on my actual server. I assume that will make it marginally slower but I’ll enjoy having the control.
Reading about the PC-98 (via a link from @JacksonOfTrades) and struck by the similarities between Japan’s PC industry and its smartphone industry.
So here’s a book review of a children’s picture book. With no pictures!
