I checked out Artifact and find it borderline unusable. The app itself is all right but the reading experience when you tap on a link is awful. It’s a sad reminder of how user-hostile major media websites are without content blockers.

‘Birdsong’ is one of those words that I don’t believe is real no matter how many times I see it.
This isn’t a sustainable approach I realise but after reading Ben Thompson’s article about interacting with the Sydney persona inside Bing’s chatbot, I feel strongly that it should be shut down immediately.
Oh God. Akamai’s just completely killed the Linode branding? I think I’m going to switch away just to stop seeing this logo.
When the investor Carson Block arrived for an appointment at the Pierre hotel, in Manhattan, in 2017, he knew he was about to meet with an impostor.

Unrelated: how is it 2023 and we still don’t have a chef’s kiss emoji?
Epic Games’ support request system isn’t kafkaesque… but it’s close. I have an Epic Games account that is connected to my Steam account. I can’t log into it with my Steam account, though. I wrote to Epic about that but they keep telling me to log into it to fix it.
Favourite aspect of the Steam Deck so far is maybe the wink animation when it goes to sleep. Absolutely delightful.
I really enjoy the dopamine (I guess?) hits from catching up on my Mastodon feed in the evening but the amount of time it’s sucking up feels unsustainable :(
God, I hate the practice on some Japanese websites of splitting a user ID into two parts such that it inhibits the use of a password manager.
One day I hope I can see as many movies in a year as Khoi Vinh.
I love the images from Midjourney that @sangsara included in his weeknotes post for this week.
Am becoming increasingly frustrated reading Substack sites. I’m not talking about the modal subscribe box (which also irritates). Rather it’s the dynamically loaded content which, er, doesn’t load and leaves me scrolling empty white space. Does this happen to other people?
Steam Deck ordered!
Just had a really great discussion with @martinfeld. I hope I never stop thinking the Internet is really cool.
The mic in the right AirPod seems to be on the fritz. Is this a design flaw of the second-generation regular AirPods? This is the second time this has happened to me. Took about 18 months or so both times so maybe it’s just wear and tear of a sort.
I’ve just discovered that pronouncing ‘primer’ to rhyme with ‘trimmer’ is not the correct pronunciation in the UK and now I don’t know whether I believe in anything any more.
