So far, so good with the Synology. Setup was very easy and I’ve copied all the data from the external hard drives I had to it without a hitch. I’m now wondering if I can salvage the disk from one of the external drives and stick it in the Synology.

I love ‘American Pie’ but ‘Bad news on the doorstep / I couldn’t take one more step’ disappoints me every time I hear it.
I just did what I should have done at the start of the year and bought a Synology. Not sure what I’ll use my NUC for now. It’s overpowered for everything else.
I’m trying to work out whether I hate OpenVPN’s old skeuomorphic interface more or the new Material Design interface. iOS apps aren’t supposed to work like this :(

I feel silly for not using my Kindle more (all the moreso given that I bought two) but as continuous scrolling in the iPhone app has been made more robust, it’s become my preferred way to read. Reading books this way ‘feels’ both wrong and right.
So I’ve bought a shredder.
It’s really too hot for late August. I worry about what things are going to be like as they get worse.
I finally went and saved the rewrite of the Jekyll plugin I’m working on as a new branch. I don’t know why it took me so long. This is the whole point of Git.
I never wanted to be one of those people who stopped listening to new music but it’s shocking to me how little interest I have in any of the songs Apple Music suggests in its New Music Mix. Maybe their algorithm is terrible?
Inspired by @endonend’s home screen, here’s mine.
The NYT removing the bylines of journalists on their home page is a mistake. Hoping it’ll be rectified soon.
Currently listening to Nightconcert by Erroll Garner.
Despite saying they’re out til tomorrow, DayOne Support replied to my ticket almost immediately (my guess is they’re being deluged by requests from users in similar situations). Force quitting and relaunching fixed the problem.
Just upgraded to DayOne 3.0 only to be told on launch that my premium subscription has expired (it was renewed at the end of June). The subscription is handled through the App Store but that’s presumably not uncommon. Embarrassing bug.
I wonder if there’s a point with AirPods where you choose the correct side of the case for each earphone on the first try.
I’m not sure anything makes me as happy as deleting code. /notices kids
I feel like people don’t talk about Ugly Betty enough.
I’ve mostly avoided the discussions about Micro.blog for reasons explained at the beginning of this post but I couldn’t resist sharing some of the improvements I’d like to see come to the platform. Yet more unsolicited suggestions, @manton :P
I finally went to the effort of hiding the New Yorker’s autoplaying videos with 1Blocker. There should be a setting to disable these like there is on macOS.
